5 days ultimatum to ration card holders, if e-KYC is not done by 30th June then ration will be stopped

A 5-day ultimatum has been given to ration card holders. E-KYC has been made mandatory for ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh. The Food and Logistics Department has issued instructions to all the District Supply Officers that this process should be completed by June 30, 2025. If such ration card holders do not do e-KYC on time, then the distribution of ration of all of them can be stopped.

Big and important news has come out for lakhs of ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh. Instructions have been issued by the Food and Logistics Department of Uttar Pradesh to all the District Supply Officers of the state, in which the e-KYC process from the ration card holders should be completed within 5 days i.e. by June 30, 2025. These instructions have been given after the release of the latest guidelines of the Central Government so that the mine allocation to the eligible beneficiaries can be ensured on time.

Now the last date of KYC will not be extended

In the order issued by Additional Commissioner Satyadev on behalf of the Food and Logistics Department, it has been clearly stated that the last date of eKYC will not be extended further. All those beneficiaries who have not yet done KYC should complete it by June 30 at any cost. If they do not do eKYC by June 30, then they can be excluded from the ration card list of July.

Why is e-KYC necessary

Talking about e-KYC, its full form is Electronic Know Your Customer, that is, digital identity is verified through the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card. Simply put, it is a system of digital identity verification through mobile number in which verification is done through Aadhaar card. Through e-KYC, the government wants to ensure whether the beneficiary is eligible or not or whether the beneficiary is fake or has died.

If the beneficiary receiving ration is completely correct, then after doing e-KYC, he will continue to get ration. The process of e-KYC is completed by linking the Aadhaar card of the beneficiary to the ration card. Authentication is done through biometric verification or OTP. This step is a process to prevent duplicate ration cards as well as unnecessary mine allocation to fake beneficiaries. The government has taken a big step in this direction.
