The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded strict action against actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh and the producer-director of his upcoming Punjabi film ‘Sardar Ji 3’. The reason for this is the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. FWICE has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and recommended blacklisting Diljit and others associated with the film from the Indian film industry and cancelling their citizenship and passport.
Controversy sparked by the trailer of ‘Sardar Ji 3’
This controversy started when the trailer of the film was released, in which Hania Aamir was seen. She is a well-known Pakistani actress and has worked in Pakistani TV dramas. This horror-comedy film is being released on June 27 only in foreign countries, not in India.
‘Insult to national sentiment’ – FWICE’s sharp statement
FWICE issued a statement saying:
“By using Pakistani artist, Diljit Dosanjh, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmod Sidhu and Amar Hundal have not only hurt the dignity of the Indian film industry but also insulted the national sentiment. We demand that all these passports be cancelled immediately and they be deprived of any national identity or rights forever.”
Serious allegations against Hania Aamir
FWICE also alleged that Hania Aamir has been making controversial statements against India and has tried to insult Indian soldiers. FWICE termed her alleged statements, especially regarding Operation Sindoor and incidents related to terrorism, as anti-India. The organization said that giving work to such artists in Indian films is an ‘insult to national trust’.
Demand to ban release in India
FWICE has requested the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Censor Board (CBFC) not to give the film ‘Sardarji 3’ a release certificate in India. The organization made it clear that when there is a situation of tension on the border, it is a serious and condemnable mistake to cast Pakistani artists in films at such a time.
Will the Indo-Pak film dispute increase again?
This incident has once again sparked a debate about the presence of Pakistani artists in India. Earlier also, many Pakistani artists have been banned after the Uri attack and Pulwama. Now it remains to be seen what stand the government and the censor board take on this dispute.
