New Delhi, July 1, 2025 — A fresh political storm has erupted after senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh made a controversial statement alleging that the Kanwar Yatra is being used to “create an atmosphere of hatred.”
Speaking to reporters, Singh claimed, “The Kanwar Yatra, which is supposed to be a spiritual journey, is now being misused to spread communal tensions. The real essence of the yatra is being lost in aggressive displays of power and hate.”
The remark sparked outrage from several right-wing leaders and Hindu organizations, who accused the Congress party of consistently disrespecting Hindu traditions. BJP spokespersons and affiliated groups called Singh’s comment “deeply offensive” and an example of “Congress’s anti-Hindu mindset.”
