Election Commission Refutes Tejashwi Yadav’s Claim of Missing Name from Voter List; BJP Demands Probe

The Election Commission has categorically denied the claim made by Bihar’s Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, that his name was missing from the voter list. In a swift rebuttal, the Commission released documentary evidence showing Tejashwi’s name listed at serial number 416 in the official electoral roll, dismissing his allegations as false.

BJP Alleges Multiple Voter IDs, Calls for Legal Action

Following the controversy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its attack, demanding a thorough investigation by the Election Commission. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar released a video statement accusing Tejashwi Yadav of possessing multiple voter ID cards. “His press conference clearly indicates that he has obtained two or more voter identity cards. This is a serious attempt to mislead the people of Bihar,” Kumar alleged.

Kumar further called on the Commission to register a criminal case under Section 171F of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections. He urged that Tejashwi’s voting rights be temporarily suspended, and punitive measures including imprisonment and fines be initiated. The BJP also demanded an investigation into the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) office to determine whether fake voter IDs were being produced in bulk.

BJP Leaders Mock, EC Investigates

Adding fuel to the fire, BJP leader Nikhil Anand took to social media to taunt Tejashwi. In a sarcastic post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Dear brother Tejashwi Yadav, if your name is truly missing from the voter list, don’t worry—we’ve found it. Now stop stressing about contesting the election, and feel free to campaign confidently.”

The controversy escalated after Tejashwi reportedly shared an EPIC number (RAB 2916120) during a press briefing. According to Election Commission sources, this number does not correspond to any valid entry in the official database, draft roll, or final voter list. Officials suspect that the number might belong to a fake voter ID.

Investigation Underway into Duplicate ID Allegations

Media reports confirm that the Election Commission has begun an internal inquiry to verify whether Tejashwi Yadav is in possession of multiple voter ID cards, a violation of electoral law if proven. The matter is being treated as serious, with legal ramifications possible depending on the findings of the investigation.

As the political battle intensifies ahead of the upcoming elections, this incident has added yet another layer of controversy to Bihar’s volatile political landscape.
