Diljit Dosanjh Faces Backlash Over ‘Sardaar Ji 3’; Neeru Bajwa Deletes Posters Amid Rising Controversy

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is facing a storm of criticism over his latest film Sardaar Ji 3, primarily due to the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film, which was set to release in India, has been pulled back following public outrage and is now only being released in Pakistan and select international markets starting June 27.

Neeru Bajwa Distances Herself from the Film

Adding to the controversy, Neeru Bajwa, who plays the female lead in the film, has removed all promotional posters of Sardaar Ji 3 from her Instagram account. She has also reportedly unfollowed Hania Aamir on the platform, a move that caught attention after a screenshot went viral. Bajwa’s silence on the matter has been interpreted by many as a quiet act of protest or disapproval.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Statement Sparks Outrage

Earlier, Dosanjh attempted to clarify the situation by stating, “When the film was being made, the political environment was different. Now it’s completed, and money has been spent—some things are beyond our control.” However, this explanation didn’t sit well with the audience. Many criticized him for prioritizing his film over national sentiment, accusing him of being insensitive given the strained India-Pakistan relations.

Veteran Bollywood actor Puneet Issar also publicly criticized Dosanjh, stating that artists must act with greater responsibility when representing their country on international platforms.

Mika Singh and Guru Randhawa Join the Chorus of Disapproval

Singers Mika Singh and Guru Randhawa have also spoken out against the film. In a strongly worded post, Mika wrote, “We all know the relationship between India and Pakistan isn’t cordial. Yet some people are being irresponsible by casting actors from across the border. One should think twice before promoting such content—especially when it concerns our national pride.”

Guru Randhawa echoed similar sentiments, calling the decision “insensitive and disappointing.” Both artists urged the Indian entertainment industry to exercise more caution when working on cross-border projects.

Conclusion

With the controversy intensifying, the future of Sardaar Ji 3 in India remains uncertain. While the film might see success internationally, the backlash at home raises critical questions about the responsibility of filmmakers in sensitive geopolitical contexts.
