Sangrampur, Uttar Pradesh: The murder of Sagar, a resident of Puuri Rama Chauhan Majra Punna Pur village in Sangrampur, has taken a shocking turn, with the investigation revealing that the killing was a result of a controversial video involving a neighbor’s illicit relationship. Sagar had secretly recorded an inappropriate video of his neighbor Kumkum and her brother-in-law, leading to an intense conflict that ultimately ended in murder.
According to the police, based on evidence retrieved from the deceased’s mobile phone, they detained Kumkum for questioning. During the interrogation, she confessed that Sagar had filmed a compromising video of her and her brother-in-law. Sagar had been pressuring Kumkum to engage in a physical relationship, which had angered both her and her brother-in-law. On Tuesday night, Sagar climbed onto the roof and entered Kumkum’s house through a ladder. As soon as he entered, her brother-in-law attacked him with an axe.
Sagar collapsed on the ground after the blow. Kumkum and her brother-in-law then proceeded to cover his mouth to silence him. Following this, her brother-in-law inflicted several blows to Sagar’s neck with the axe. Once Sagar was dead, the duo wrapped his head and neck with plastic and tied his hands and feet with ropes. They then carried his body to a nearby animal shed, where they hid it. Later that night, the brother-in-law went out to dispose of the axe, while Kumkum attempted to erase all traces of the crime. She smeared the bloodstains on the floor with cow dung in an effort to remove evidence.
Police Officer Brijesh Singh confirmed that Kumkum has been arrested and sent to jail, while a team has been formed to search for her brother-in-law, Ved Prakash.
Family Refuses to Perform Last Rites Until Arrests Are Made
On Thursday, Sagar’s father, Siddharth, arrived at the village. The family has made it clear that they will not perform Sagar’s last rites until all the accused are arrested. Siddharth stated, “We will not proceed with the funeral until all the suspects are in custody.”
Sagar’s elder sister, Aarti, has accused the police of pressuring the family to perform the last rites. She alleges that the murder was committed over the video Sagar had filmed and claims that she will not conduct her brother’s last rites until Kumkum’s brother-in-law is arrested and sent to jail.
Allegations of Police Pressure
Aarti further added that the police have been pressuring them to proceed with the last rites. She expressed her distrust in the police, saying, “They keep assuring us that the accused will be caught, but I’m not convinced that they will take any action.” Siddharth also expressed frustration with the police, stating that they have yet to take any meaningful action in the case.
Heavy Police Deployment in Village
The incident has caused tension in the village, and the presence of the victim’s relatives and local residents has added to the unrest. Given the situation, a large police force has been deployed in the area to maintain order. Circle Officer Manoj Kumar Mishra has set up a camp in the village, along with officers from nearby police stations, including the station heads of Bazaar Shukul, Ramganj, and Jayas, as well as the women’s police station officer, Kanchan Singh.
The case continues to unfold, with the police under pressure to take swift action in light of the allegations and public unrest.
