Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has rolled out what it calls India’s most cost-effective rooftop solar solution under its “Ghar Ghar Solar” initiative in Odisha. This ambitious move is aimed at making solar energy accessible and affordable for every household.
The company has introduced solar systems starting at just ₹2,499 for a 1-kilowatt setup. To further ease adoption, TPREL is offering flexible financing options that allow households from various income segments to switch to clean energy without a heavy upfront investment.
Massive Rollout Plans Across India
With this initiative, Tata Power aims to install over 1 million rooftop solar systems across India, including 300,000 installations in Odisha alone, within the next 3 to 5 years. In a strategic partnership with the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), Tata Power is working to promote solar adoption on a state-wide scale.
More Than Just Rooftop Systems
Expanding beyond traditional rooftop setups, Tata Power is now offering solar-powered lifestyle solutions as part of its diversified product portfolio. These offerings reflect the company’s vision of enhancing quality of life while promoting the use of clean and sustainable energy.
Up to ₹78,000 in Subsidies for Solar Installation
Consumers in Odisha can benefit from substantial subsidies under the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The scheme provides up to ₹78,000 in subsidies, covering around 40% of the cost for systems up to 3 kilowatts.
On top of that, the Odisha state government offers additional incentives:
- ₹25,000 for 1 kW systems
- ₹50,000 for 2 kW systems
- ₹60,000 for systems 3 kW and above
These combined benefits significantly reduce the financial burden on consumers and make the transition to solar energy simpler and more affordable.
Driving Clean Energy for Millions
Tata Power’s initiative is expected to bring clean, affordable energy to millions of households in Odisha and beyond. By enabling widespread solar adoption, the company is not only helping families reduce their electricity costs but also contributing to India’s broader clean energy and sustainability goals.
