In the midst of Maha Kumbh 2025, when millions of devotees are taking a dip in the holy waters of the Ganges, one name is in the headlines – Ishika Taneja. Ishika, who once made a name for herself as Miss World Tourism and OTT actress, has now taken the path of Sanatan Dharma. Saying goodbye to the glamour of films, she has taken Guru Diksha from Shankaracharya Sadanand Saraswati of Dwarka-Sharda Peeth. Now she has started propagating religion as Shri Lakshmi.
Name, fame, glamour… but life was incomplete
Ishika Taneja, a resident of Delhi, studied from London and earned a name in the world of modeling and acting with her beauty and talent. She also got a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, wore the Miss India crown and also worked in Bhatt Camp’s web series Had. But despite all this, she was feeling an incompleteness in life. She says, “Despite name and fame, there was some emptiness. After taking Guru Diksha, my life has now got the right direction.”
New journey in the service of Sanatan Dharma
Ishika clearly said that she has completely left the glamour industry. She is now dedicating herself to the service of Sanatan Dharma. She believes that women are not just made to dance wearing short clothes, but they should also have an important role in the promotion of religion and culture. Ishika says, “Every daughter should come forward to protect and promote religion.”
From OTT to Sanatan
Ishika says that her journey did not start suddenly. She was already attracted to spirituality. She also joined the Art of Living and learned meditation and yoga. During the Maha Kumbh, she presented herself in her new form, as a Sanatani disciple. Ishika says. “I am not a Sadhvi, but I am a proud Sanatani.”
Unconcerned with controversies, firm on her views
Ishika is also in the news for her statements. She says that society should be clear in its thoughts and should adopt Sanatan Dharma with pride. Linking saffron to fashion, she said that it should be worn with pride, so that the youth are inspired to adopt it.
However, Ishika has not completely moved away from the film industry. If she gets a chance, she will produce films, but their subject will be based on the promotion of Sanatan Dharma. She says, “If I make a film, it will also promote Sanatan.”
At the same time, Ishika Taneja said that she is not interested in going into politics, but she will definitely support any party that works for the upliftment of Sanatan Dharma. She says, “I have no political ambitions, but all my Sanatani sisters should come forward.”
Ishika also revealed that she had received an offer to go to Bigg Boss, but she turned it down. She says, “I had received a call earlier too, but I did not go.”
