Saif Ali Khan Opens Up About Divorce, Alimony, and Life with Kareena Kapoor

In a candid interview with Anupama Chopra, Saif Ali Khan discussed the financial implications of divorce, stating that going through such separations repeatedly is not feasible due to the considerable costs involved.

Reflecting on his personal experiences, Saif shared that during his divorce from his first wife Amrita Singh in 2004, he had to pay ₹5 crore as alimony, of which he had paid around ₹2.5 crore at that time. Additionally, he promised to give their son Ibrahim ₹1 lakh per month until he turned 18.

He emphasised on how much of a financial burden this put on him, mentioning that he was not financially strong like some of his peers and had to work tirelessly to fulfil these commitments.

Apart from this, Saif Ali Khan had said that I can well imagine that many people do not like the people with whom they get stuck after a while, you cannot get divorced again and again because you have to give a lot of money, so if it is a matter of happiness for them then people deal with it.

Despite the challenges, Saif emphasised on his desire for Amrita and their children’s happiness, considering them an integral part of his life. He also reflected on the emotional burden of the separation, admitting to moments of deep sadness while looking at pictures of his children Sara and Ibrahim, which he kept in his wallet.

In 2012 Saif married actress Kareena Kapoor and they now have two sons, Taimur and Jeh. This chapter of his life appears to be more emotionally and financially stable, allowing him to focus on his family and career without the burden he faced in the past.
