Just a day after the electrifying IPL final where the Bengaluru team lifted their maiden trophy in 18 years, a wave of grief swept through the cricketing world. While fans across the country were still celebrating the historic victory, an unfortunate tragedy has left many heartbroken—a young cricketer tragically lost his life on the field.
12-Year-Old Cricketer Dies After Being Hit on Chest During Match
The incident took place in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a 12-year-old boy, Ansh, was participating in the final match between academy teams. While batting, he was struck in the chest by a cricket ball. The impact caused him to collapse on the field.
Despite being rushed to the hospital immediately, doctors were unable to save him and declared him dead upon arrival. The heartbreaking news has left fellow players, coaches, and family members in deep shock.
The Fatal Blow During Final Match at Cricket Academy
The match was held at the Future Cricket Academy on Tundla Road in the Tundla area of Firozabad. Ansh was at the crease when a fast delivery struck him directly in the chest. He fell unconscious on the pitch and was hurried to the nearest hospital.
Medical staff attempted emergency treatment, but the young boy had already succumbed to the internal injuries caused by the blow.
Ansh Was His Parents’ Only Child and a Promising Cricketer
Ansh was the only son of his parents, who had enrolled him at the academy to pursue his growing passion for cricket. According to academy staff, he was a talented and dedicated young player with a bright future ahead.
Sadly, the same sport he loved dearly became the reason for his untimely demise.
Inspector Anjeesh Kumar from Tundla police station confirmed that the cause of death was due to the ball hitting his chest. He added that further legal action would be taken based on the family’s written complaint.
Family Erupts in Grief and Protest at Hospital
Devastated by the sudden loss, the boy’s family created an uproar at the hospital. When informed about his death, relatives rushed to the medical college where the body was taken. Grief quickly turned to anger as they reportedly vandalized hospital property in protest.
The police were called in to manage the situation and eventually calmed the family, but the chaos continued into the night, with relatives in a state of shock and distress.
No Postmortem Conducted Before Last Rites
Inspector Kumar also mentioned that the boy’s parents were unwilling to accept his death and took him to a hospital in Agra, hoping for a miracle. However, doctors there also confirmed the boy had passed away.
The family later brought his body back to Firozabad and proceeded with the funeral without a postmortem, which means a medical autopsy could not be performed to formally determine the cause of death.
Conclusion
What should have been a week of cricket celebration has turned somber with the tragic loss of young Ansh. His death serves as a grim reminder of the risks involved in sports, even at the grassroots level. As the cricketing world mourns, the incident also raises questions about safety protocols during training and matches involving young players.
May his soul rest in peace.
