A heartbreaking loss has been reported from Balodabazar district in Chhattisgarh. Anju Jain, the former President of the Municipality, passed away after a prolonged illness. She breathed her last last night at a private hospital in Raipur. The news has cast a shadow of sorrow over the BJP, particularly as the first phase of voting for the three-tier panchayat elections was underway in the state. Anju Jain’s health had been declining in recent days, leading to her hospitalization in Raipur. Unfortunately, her condition worsened over the weekend, and she passed away late Sunday night. Anju was the wife of Ashok Jain, the newly elected President of Balodabazar Municipality.
From Celebration to Mourning: A City’s Shift in Emotion
The city of Balodabazar had been celebrating Ashok Jain’s recent election as Municipal President, and the family had just two days ago organized a Vijay Aabhar rally to mark the victory. The family, along with the citizens, joyfully participated in the event. However, the untimely death of Anju Jain quickly turned the atmosphere from one of celebration to deep mourning, as the entire town mourns her loss.
Anju Jain’s Last Journey
Anju Jain’s body will be brought back to Balodabazar today, and her final rites will take place at Mokshadham on Raipur Road. The procession will begin at 1 pm from her residence, where family members and townspeople will gather to pay their respects and bid farewell.

Balodabazar MLA and Revenue Minister, Tankaram Verma, expressed his condolences upon hearing the tragic news. He took to social media to share his grief: “I am deeply shocked by the news of the demise of Anju Jain ji, wife of Balodabazar Municipal President Ashok Jain ji. May God bless her soul and provide strength to the family during this challenging time. Om Shanti.”
