In a shocking turn of events, Jammu and Kashmir police have filed a case against Bollywood celebrity Orry, also known as Orhan Avatramani, and seven others for allegedly consuming alcohol near the holy Vaishno Devi shrine, located on the Trikuta Mountain in Katra. The case, which has stirred up controversy, involves allegations that the group violated religious sentiments by consuming alcohol in a hotel near the sacred site, a location where the sale and consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited.
Along with Orry, the police have also booked a Russian national, Anastasia Armaskina, who was reportedly traveling with him and his friends in Katra. The other individuals named in the case include Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritik Singh, Rashi Datta, Rakshita Bhogol, Shagun Kohli, and Armaskina herself. An FIR has been registered at the Katra Police Station under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with offenses related to disturbing public order and violating district magistrate orders.
According to the police, Orry and his group were caught drinking alcohol at a hotel in Katra, specifically in the hotel’s cottage suite area, where there is a strict ban on alcohol consumption and non-vegetarian food. The complaint, which led to the filing of the FIR, was lodged after the police received information about the incident. Following this, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rashi Paramvir Singh ordered swift action and emphasized that any activity that undermines the sanctity of religious sites would not be tolerated.
SSP Singh further clarified that all religious sites in Katra are highly respected, and any kind of disruption or violation of decorum would be dealt with severely. The police have set up a special team to investigate the matter, which includes the Senior Police Officer (SP), Deputy SP, and SHO of Katra.
