CM Yogi Attends Maha Kumbh Closing Ceremony in Prayagraj

A Grand Farewell to Maha Kumbh 2025

The formal closing ceremony of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is taking place today. On this significant occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Prayagraj, where he personally took part in cleaning the Arail Ghat of the Ganga. Following this, he interacted with various workers, including sanitation staff, health workers, sailors, UPSRTC drivers, police personnel, and administrative officials, who played a vital role in ensuring smooth operations throughout the grand event.

During his visit, CM Yogi met with sanitation workers and health personnel, as well as sailors and UPSRTC drivers, acknowledging their contributions. He announced a special bonus of ₹10,000 for sanitation workers involved in Maha Kumbh, with the amount being transferred directly into their bank accounts.

Maha Kumbh Boosts Tourism in Uttar Pradesh

Highlighting the impact of Maha Kumbh on tourism, CM Yogi Adityanath stated, “Maha Kumbh has paved the way for multiple spiritual tourism circuits in Uttar Pradesh. From January 13 to February 26, a massive congregation took place in Prayagraj, attracting crores of devotees daily. Similarly, Kashi Vishwanath Dham saw a daily influx of 10 to 15 lakh visitors. Additionally, pilgrimage circuits connecting Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Mathura, and Vrindavan were established. These circuits have significantly boosted religious tourism in the state.”

Unprecedented Gathering of Devotees

CM Yogi emphasized that such a vast gathering of faith has never been witnessed anywhere else in the world. “Over 66.30 crore devotees participated in the event without any major incidents like kidnappings, thefts, or harassment. Despite attempts to tarnish the event’s image, our administration remained focused on providing the best facilities to pilgrims,” he added.

Remembering the Mauni Amavasya Incident

The Chief Minister also recalled the tragic incident that occurred on Mauni Amavasya, extending his condolences to the affected families. He noted that efforts were made to falsely associate the incident with Prayagraj to defame the event, but this did not deter devotees from attending in large numbers.

Workers Appreciated for Their Dedication

Expressing gratitude, CM Yogi said, “Visitors to Prayagraj have appreciated the cleanliness and the hard work of sanitation workers. The police personnel and all government department employees ensured the event’s grandeur and success, treating it as their own mission.”

Railway Minister Acknowledges Railway Employees

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also visited Prayagraj to recognize the contributions of railway employees in facilitating the movement of devotees. He met with railway staff, acknowledging their relentless efforts in transporting pilgrims to and from Maha Kumbh. The Minister also announced plans to honor these dedicated employees for their commendable service.

Over 66 Crore Devotees Take a Holy Dip

The Maha Kumbh 2025, recognized as the world’s largest religious and spiritual gathering, concluded with the final bathing festival on Mahashivratri. Over the course of 45 days, from January 13 to February 26, approximately 66.30 crore devotees from India and abroad participated by taking a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Ganga and Sangam. As per official data released by the fair administration, by 8 PM on the final day, more than 1.53 crore devotees had taken the ritualistic dip.

Sanitation Workers Played a Crucial Role

The Maha Kumbh was widely praised for its cleanliness, thanks to the dedicated efforts of sanitation workers. According to Dr. Anand Singh, sanitation in-charge of the fair, around 15,000 sanitation workers were deployed in multiple shifts to maintain hygiene and cleanliness throughout the event. Their hard work ensured that the ghats and public amenities remained spotless, earning appreciation from all attendees.
