In the context of India’s continued struggle and strengthening its position internationally, a seven-member all-party delegation will visit members of the United Nations Security Council and other key countries later this month. The government has prepared a list of leaders on its behalf, which includes members of various political parties, for the delegation.
The list includes Shashi Tharoor of Congress, Ravi Shankar Prasad of BJP, Baijayant Panda, Sanjay Kumar Jha of Janata Dal United, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi of DMK, Supriya Sule of NCP and Srikant Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena.
However, the Congress has objected to this list and says that the Congress leaders who were included in the names sent by the government were not included in the list.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted about this, in which he told how the Congress was asked by the government to submit the names of four MPs for the delegation to be sent abroad to explain India’s stand on terrorism from Pakistan.
Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Yesterday morning, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju contacted the Congress President and the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. The Congress was asked to submit names of 4 MPs for delegations to be sent abroad to convey India’s stand on terrorism from Pakistan.”
He further said, “By noon on 16 May, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha had written to the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs submitting four names on behalf of the Congress. These names were:
- Shri Anand Sharma, former Union Minister
- Shri Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader, Congress Lok Sabha
- Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, MP, Rajya Sabha
- Shri Raja Barad, MP, Lok Sabha”

There has been growing resentment within the party after the names sent by the Congress were not included. Congress leader Udit Raj has now criticised Shashi Tharoor by making a statement against him. While talking to PTI, he said, “I don’t know which party Shashi Tharoor is in… He keeps praising Modi ji all the time! It seems that praising the country’s army has become a crime in Congress, and supporting the nation is considered treason. This is the reason why Congress is shrinking today, because it no longer has patriotism, but only vote bank politics. Leaders who stand with the nation are Congress’s target, and those who are with anti-India forces are Congress’ heroes!”

"पता नहीं शशि थरूर किस पार्टी में हैं… हर वक्त मोदी जी की तारीफ करते हैं!"
लगता है कांग्रेस में अब देश की सेना की तारीफ करना भी अपराध है, और राष्ट्र के साथ खड़ा होना गद्दारी।

This controversy has given rise to a new political debate within the Congress, and questions are being raised within the party as to why the names of their leaders were not included in the delegation list prepared by the government.
