Danger for PNB customers! If KYC is not done by August 8, the account will be frozen

If you have an account in Punjab National Bank (PNB) and you have not yet updated your KYC (Know Your Customer), then you need to be alert immediately. The bank has warned that customers whose KYC was to be updated by 30 June 2025, should complete it before 8 August 2025 at any cost – otherwise their bank account will be frozen, due to which no transaction will be possible.

Why is KYC update necessary?

KYC i.e. “Know Your Customer” is an important banking process through which the bank verifies your identity documents. This system has been created to prevent fraud, money laundering and financial crimes. Without KYC, the bank does not know who owns the account and whether it is valid.

How and where to get KYC done?

If you have an account in Punjab National Bank (PNB) and you have to update KYC, then the bank has provided many convenient ways for this. You can update your information either online or offline.

By visiting a bank branch

The most traditional way is to go directly to the bank branch and get your KYC updated. For this, you will have to take some important documents with you, such as Aadhaar card or voter ID (identity card), proof of residence, recent passport size photo, PAN card or Form 60, income proof, and mobile number if not given earlier. By providing all these documents, you can get your KYC updated at your nearest PNB branch.

From home with PNB ONE app

If you want digital convenience, KYC can also be updated through PNB ONE mobile app. Open the app, then check your KYC status. If update is required, follow the instructions given in the app to complete the eKYC process.

Through Internet Banking

Go to the PNB website and login to your internet banking account. There you will find the option of “KYC” in the “Personal Settings” section. By clicking on it, you can update KYC by uploading documents online.

By email or post

If you are unable to go online or to the bank, you can also update KYC by sending the required documents to your home branch from the registered email ID or by post. Keep in mind that your email should be already registered with the bank.

What will happen if KYC is not done?

PNB has clarified that if you do not update your KYC by 8 August 2025, your bank account can be frozen. This means that you will not be able to deposit or withdraw money in your account. Debit / credit transactions will also stop.

How to check your KYC status?

Open PNB’s online banking or PNB ONE app and go to the “KYC Status” section. If “Update Required” is written there, it is an indication that you have to update your KYC immediately.
