DMRC Honors Param Vir Chakra Heroes with Tribute Wall at Moti Bagh Metro Station

In a heartfelt tribute to India’s bravest soldiers, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has unveiled a special installation at the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Moti Bagh Metro Station on the Pink Line. The newly built wall showcases dynamic images of all Param Vir Chakra awardees, serving as a living tribute to their extraordinary courage. This powerful display is not only stirring pride among daily commuters but also becoming a point of admiration for visitors passing through the station.

This patriotic initiative by DMRC aims to ignite a spirit of nationalism and deep respect for the armed forces among metro passengers. It’s the latest in a series of efforts by Delhi Metro to celebrate the valor of India’s military heroes.

Previously, DMRC had installed a wall listing the names of Param Vir Chakra recipients at Rajouri Garden Metro Station, which continues to catch the attention of countless travelers. Additionally, several metro stations have been renamed to honor fallen heroes—such as Major Mohit Sharma Rajendra Nagar, Arjan Garh, and Brigadier Hoshiar Singh stations—ensuring their legacies remain etched in public memory.

Understanding the Param Vir Chakra

The Param Vir Chakra (PVC) is India’s highest military honor, awarded to members of the armed forces who display the highest degree of bravery in the face of the enemy. Instituted in 1950, the award recognizes acts of extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice, often at the cost of one’s own life. It is regarded as the most prestigious gallantry award after the Bharat Ratna.

To date, only 21 brave soldiers have been awarded the Param Vir Chakra—7 while alive and 14 posthumously, reflecting the ultimate price many have paid for the nation’s security.
