Fire Incident at Lahore Airport Causes International Flight Delays

A major fire broke out at Lahore Airport in Pakistan, causing significant disruption to international flight operations early in the morning.

As per initial reports, the fire originated due to a short circuit, leading to the delay of several outbound international flights. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, and airport personnel were able to bring the situation under control within minutes.

Smoke Filled Lounge, Passengers Evacuated

Footage circulating online shows dense smoke engulfing the airport lounge as passengers were quickly escorted to safety. The fire particularly affected the immigration area, leading to operational delays.

Airport authorities have confirmed the formation of a special investigation team to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Flight Operations Affected

The blaze caused delays in at least six flights, including Qatar Airways flight QR 629 and the first Hajj departure. However, incoming international flights were not impacted, and no emergency was declared by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Temporary Shift to Domestic Lounge

The CAA issued a statement saying that, as a precaution, international departures were shifted to the domestic terminal. They confirmed that the fire was brought under control around 5:00 a.m., and efforts were ongoing to resume domestic flight services as well.

Officials emphasized that ensuring a smooth immigration process remained the top priority, especially for Hajj pilgrims and other international travelers.
