Folk artist Neha Singh Rathore has once again found herself at the center of controversy. Following a complaint registered in Lucknow, legal proceedings have now been initiated against her in an Ayodhya court. The case has been filed by Shivendra Singh, District President of the Block Pramukh Sangh, through his senior legal counsel, Martand Pratap Singh. The accusations against Neha Singh are serious, involving claims that she made defamatory and baseless allegations on social media targeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The complaint has been submitted in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge (Senior Division)-4, presided over by Judge Ekta Singh in Ayodhya. As per the details in the complaint, Neha Singh Rathore allegedly made a controversial post on her X account (formerly Twitter) following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In that post, she suggested that the attack was orchestrated to gain political mileage ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. The post directly implicated the country’s top leadership in an alleged conspiracy, which the complainant describes as completely unfounded and a direct affront to national security and constitutional governance.

Advocate Martand Pratap Singh has asserted that Neha Singh Rathore attempted to gain public attention through irresponsible and provocative statements on a highly sensitive national issue. He further claimed that her post was amplified by sharing it through the social media handle of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, suggesting a possible connection with elements opposed to India’s interests.
He has labeled the act as a deliberate attempt to undermine the sovereignty and internal security of the country, and has called for stringent legal action under the charges of sedition. Complainant Shivendra Singh emphasized that as an artist, Rathore had a duty to exercise her freedom of speech with caution. Instead, she allegedly made reckless and inflammatory claims on a matter involving national security, misleading the public and disrupting peace and harmony.
The court is expected to soon schedule a hearing to examine the allegations. If the initial review supports the claims made in the complaint, Neha Singh Rathore could potentially face serious legal repercussions. According to senior advocate Martand Pratap Singh, such comments fall under the ambit of sedition when they threaten the integrity and security of the nation. A formal request has been made to the court to initiate sedition charges against her.
