Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not only lost his seat in the recent assembly elections but has also been hit with serious allegations. The accusations have been leveled by none other than the former Superintendent of Tihar Jail, Sunil Gupta, sparking a major political controversy.
Explosive Claims by Former Tihar Jail Superintendent
Sunil Gupta’s recent statements have created a political storm, further adding to the troubles of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His allegations have raised questions about Kejriwal’s governance and have reportedly impacted his public image. Gupta’s revelations have ignited heated debates within political circles.
Allegations Against Arvind Kejriwal
Recalling his tenure, Sunil Kumar Gupta has made shocking claims about Kejriwal’s inaction during his time in office. He alleged that when the late businessman Subrata Roy Sahara was imprisoned in Tihar Jail, he was provided with unauthorized luxuries. Gupta further claimed that despite informing the then Chief Minister about these irregularities, Kejriwal did not take any steps to rectify the situation.
Unchecked Privileges Given to Subrata Roy
Gupta stated, “Air hostesses used to visit Subrata Roy in Tihar Jail multiple times, spending hours in his room. Additionally, liquor bottles were also found in his possession. When I informed then CM Arvind Kejriwal about these matters, no action was taken.”
Mismanagement and Compromise in Jail Administration
According to Gupta, Kejriwal either failed to act or willingly compromised. Speaking to the media, Gupta disclosed, “Subrata Roy Sahara was not even kept inside the jail; he was provided a separate space within the court premises.”
Lack of Response from Arvind Kejriwal
Gupta further revealed that when he brought these concerns to Kejriwal’s attention in the presence of the then Jail Minister, the response was lackluster. “I told Kejriwal that these privileges were being provided with the cooperation of the jail administration, yet he remained indifferent.”
Kejriwal reportedly asked Gupta if he could capture video evidence, to which Gupta replied that it was not feasible and suggested that Kejriwal personally investigate the matter. However, Kejriwal responded that the DG Jail was an IPS officer under the central government’s jurisdiction, implying his hands were tied. Ultimately, no action was taken on the matter.
