Monalisa, a well-known face in the Bhojpuri film industry and a popular name on television, has recently opened up about some deeply personal and troubling experiences from her early career.
In a candid interview, Monalisa revealed that she encountered the harsh realities of the entertainment industry, including multiple instances of casting couch. She shared that when she was just starting out and had moved from Kolkata to Mumbai to pursue her dreams, she was subjected to inappropriate demands in exchange for roles.
“There was a time when I was asked to compromise — to get physically involved — just to secure work,” she recalled. This unethical proposition was made during the early phase of her career, when she was still trying to establish herself in the industry.
Monalisa firmly refused to give in to these pressures, but her decision came at a cost. She faced a significant period without any job offers, which forced her to take on roles in low-budget B-grade films just to survive. Despite the setbacks, she made a conscious decision to never take shortcuts or compromise her values.
