From the first car to the years old scooter, the number ‘1206’… the lucky number itself became the most unlucky for Vijay Rupani

The entire country is mourning after a tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad claimed the lives of 265 people. The ill-fated flight was en route from Ahmedabad to London and included among its passengers Gujarat’s former Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani. He was reportedly traveling to visit his wife Anjali and daughter in the UK.

What makes this tragedy even more haunting is an eerie coincidence connected to the number 1206—a number Rupani considered his lucky charm.

A Number Once Considered Lucky Turns Tragic

For Vijay Rupani, the number 1206 (12th June) held deep personal significance. It was not only his favorite number but also one he believed brought him luck. In fact, the registration numbers of his very first car and an old scooter were both 1206. Even today, those vehicles remain parked outside his residence as a reminder of his fondness for the number.

But in a tragic twist of fate, it was on 12-06—June 12—that his life came to a sudden end in the crash, turning his lucky number into a symbol of unimaginable loss.

Silence Falls Over the Neighborhood

As news of the plane crash spread, a somber silence descended upon Vijay Rupani’s home in Ahmedabad. Neighbors gathered in shock, and nearby temples began special prayers in his memory. At present, no official statement has been released by the Rupani family, and the residence remains empty and quiet.

Witnesses Describe the Terrifying Crash

Eyewitness accounts paint a horrifying picture of the incident. Just minutes after takeoff, the aircraft reportedly lost altitude and collided with the mess building of B.J. Medical College. It then struck the nearby Atulyam Hostel, which houses senior resident doctors. The impact caused both buildings to catch fire, resulting in numerous injuries and chaos on the ground.

Emergency teams—including military personnel, municipal workers, and medical staff—are working around the clock on rescue and relief efforts.
