After the recent terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam area of Kashmir, the investigating agencies have got indications that local youth may be involved in the attack. In the preliminary investigation, three local terrorists have been identified, who are suspected of being actively involved in this attack. This has increased the concern of the security agencies even more.
First suspect: Adil Hussain Thokar, educated youth and now on the path of terrorism
The first name is of Adil Hussain Thokar, a resident of Guri village of Bijbehara. He was born in 1992 and completed his graduation in 2015. Later in 2018, he took postgraduate education in Arabic from a college in Anantnag.
At one time he was also a teacher in a private school, but in April of the same year, his father lodged a report with the police that Adil had gone missing from home. Investigations revealed that Adil took illegal arms training and joined a radical organisation. According to reports, by 2021 he was associated with the HM organisation active in Kulgam and Shopian.
Another name: Adnan Shafi Dar, young student and suspected attacker
The second suspect in the attack is Adnan Shafi Dar, who is said to be around 20 years old. He is a resident of Vanduna village in Jainapora. Adnan suddenly disappeared from his home in November 2024 and has not returned since.
On the same day, Adnan is also accused of shooting a non-Kashmiri man. The victim Ashok Kumar Chauhan was a resident of Bihar and was shot in the village when he asked him to pluck corn. Earlier in April 2024, Adnan was detained by the police for questioning, but was later released.
Third suspect: Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh, journey from college student to terrorist
The name of the third suspect is Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh, a resident of Murran area. He is said to be around 22 years old and was a third year student in a college. In June 2023, he suddenly went missing and according to reports, he joined a radical militant organization and played the role of an active member.
He was living a normal student life till some time before the attack, but the ideology of terrorist organizations brought him on the path of violence.
Security agencies concerned over involvement of local terrorists
It is clear from these three cases that even locally educated youth are falling prey to radical ideology, which is becoming a serious threat to the security of the region. This incident has again raised the question of how terrorist organizations are luring local youth in the valley and involving them in their conspiracies.
