Mathura News: A unique case has come to light from the Jamunapar area of the district, where a Muslim family adopted Hindu religion. On Thursday, eight members of this family converted to religion with Vedic rituals at Bhagwat Dham Ashram in Vrindavan. The head of the family, Zakir, changed his name to ‘Jagdish’. According to the information, Jagdish is originally a resident of Shergarh area, but at present he is living in his in-laws’ house and runs a shop there.
Jagdish has been a devotee of Maa Kali, is famous as ‘Bhagat ji’ in the village
Jagdish, who converted, said that he has been worshiping Maa Kali for years. He said, “People in the village call me ‘Bhagat ji’. I belong to the Gujjar community and was thinking of returning to my original religion for the last three years.” His decision is not the result of any pressure or greed, but a step taken with full devotion.
Conversion took place at Bhagwat Dham Ashram, the whole family took part
The whole family participated in the religious conversion program organized by Hindu Yuva Vahini at Bhagwat Dham Ashram located in Tika Colony of Vrindavan. During the one-hour long havan and yagya, everyone took new names. Jagdish’s wife Guddi has now become ‘Gudiya’, the name of the elder son Anwar is ‘Sumit’, the name of the younger son Ranvar is ‘Rameshwar’, the name of daughter-in-law Sabira is ‘Savitri’ and the names of the grandchildren were also changed according to the Vedic tradition.
‘Ghar Wapsi’ was done by purification and wearing saffron sash
According to Sharad Saini, a member of Hindu Yuva Vahini, before the conversion, the whole family purified themselves by bathing in Gangajal and wore saffron sash. After this, offerings were made in the havan as per the rituals. This ‘ghar wapsi’ program was completed at the ashram located in Shriji Vatika Colony of Mathura.
