Syed Naseeruddin Chishti, the successor of the Ajmer Dargah and Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, stated on Sunday that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years, the country has seen significant changes—and the Muslim community now has growing trust in him.
“It’s Not Just a Soft Corner, It’s Full Confidence in PM Modi”
In an interview with IANS, Chishti emphasized that the Muslim community’s perception of PM Modi has evolved. “It’s not merely a matter of having a soft corner; it’s about having confidence. The way Prime Minister Modi has led the government and guided the nation forward has uplifted the dignity of every citizen,” he said. “Indian Muslims are completely devoted to their country. When the nation’s respect rises, so does the pride of every individual.”
He added that identity-based politics is becoming a thing of the past. “Religion-based politics is fading. Now, votes are cast in the name of development. Whoever delivers progress—regardless of being Hindu or Muslim—will earn the people’s support,” Chishti explained.
Modi Freed Muslims from Vote-Bank Politics
Chishti criticized earlier governments for reducing Muslims to a political vote bank for decades. “For 50 years, Muslims were treated as a tool for votes. There was a lot of talk about their progress, but very little happened at the ground level,” he said.
According to him, the Modi government has introduced several initiatives aimed at uplifting minority communities, including Muslims. “Work has been done for the welfare of Muslim women and children. PM Modi carries the mission of a Quran in one hand and a computer in the other. His government has moved Muslims beyond being just a vote bank,” he remarked.
Supports Reforms in Waqf Property Management
On the issue of Waqf reforms, Chishti expressed strong support. “There have long been concerns about corruption in the Waqf system. It’s one of the largest religious property institutions globally, and it’s important that its income is used transparently and effectively, especially to support underprivileged Muslims,” he stated. “The government’s steps to address this are commendable and serve the interest of the community.”
Modi: Humble Despite High Office
Speaking about Modi’s personal traits, Chishti described him as humble and respectful. “Despite holding the highest office in the country, he treats everyone with great humility and respect,” he said.
India Now the World’s Fourth-Largest Economy
Referring to “Operation Sindoor,” Chishti highlighted that the operation showcased India’s strength and resilience. “Anyone who dares to challenge the nation will face consequences,” he said. He also noted that the operation had a profound impact on every citizen and enhanced Modi’s stature internationally.
“In fact, India has recently become the world’s fourth-largest economy, which is a testament to the leadership and progress we’ve made,” Chishti concluded.
