After Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President, there is a lot of speculation about the new Vice President. Earlier it was being speculated that the next Vice President could be Nitish Kumar or Ramnath Thakur, but now both the things have been ruled out.

The next Vice President will be from BJP

After many speculations, it has now come to light that the Vice President (Vice President of India) will be none other than a senior BJP leader. According to NDTV report, top sources in the party said that the next Vice President will be from BJP.

He has rejected speculations that the BJP may consider key allies like JDU chief Nitish Kumar for the post vacated by the sudden resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Ramnath Thakur’s name was also in the news

Earlier, the meeting between JDU leader and Union Minister Ramnath Thakur and BJP President JP Nadda had fueled speculation that he could be chosen for the post. BJP leaders also said that the party has not spoken to the JDP leadership about the vice president post.

Preparations for vice president election begin

The Election Commission has begun preparations for the vice president election. The election schedule will be announced after the formalities, the Election Commission said in a press release. The Election Commission said,

“The major activities to be undertaken before the announcement include: preparation of electoral college consisting of elected and nominated members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha; selection of Returning Officers/Assistant Returning Officers; and preparation and dissemination of background material of all previous vice president elections.”

Opposition has not proposed any name yet

The opposition has not yet proposed any name for the top post. Only four of the last 16 vice president elections were unopposed, so the opposition may announce a name later.
