Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, a Pakistani Hindu family residing in Hisar, Haryana, has been relocated to Delhi by police authorities. This action comes in the wake of the Indian government’s decision to revoke SAARC visas issued to Pakistani nationals, giving them a strict 48-hour window to leave the country.
The family in question, consisting of 15 members, had been living in the Balsmand area of Hisar for the past seven months. Their visa had expired on August 25, 2024, yet they continued to stay in India without legal status. Among the group were 3 women, 3 young girls, 8 children, and an elderly man.
Struggling for Survival Through Daily Wages
An investigation into their stay revealed that the family had been sustaining themselves by working as daily wage laborers in agricultural fields. They had taken shelter in a modest room located on the premises of a private hospital. Originating from Hyderabad in Sindh, Pakistan, the family claimed they faced religious persecution back home and were afraid to return.
The Indian government, reacting firmly after the tragic terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, near Pahalgam, that killed 26 people, has made it clear that security and national interest will take top priority. As a result, all Pakistani citizens with expired or invalid documentation have been ordered to exit India within 48 hours.
