Reliance and Disney Launch JioHotstar Super OTT Platform

Reliance and Disney have officially unveiled their much-anticipated joint OTT platform, JioHotstar. This new streaming service brings together the content libraries of both Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema, offering users access to an extensive range of entertainment. Notably, JioHotstar will also broadcast major events like the Indian Premier League (IPL), making it an attractive option for sports and entertainment lovers. The platform is designed to be budget-friendly, with subscription costs working out to less than Rs 1.5 per day, positioning it as one of the most affordable OTT services available.

Extensive Content Library on JioHotstar

The company has confirmed that JioHotstar subscribers will gain access to the complete catalog from Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. Beyond this, users can enjoy content from several renowned international studios, broadening the range of movies, shows, and sports available on a single platform.

JioHotstar is essentially a rebranded version of the existing Disney+ Hotstar app. Therefore, if you already have the Disney+ Hotstar app installed on your smartphone, there’s no need to download a new application. A simple update will transition the app into JioHotstar. Additionally, it is speculated that Reliance may eventually phase out the standalone JioCinema platform, integrating everything into JioHotstar.

Subscription Cost: As Low as Rs 1.36 Per Day

Reliance’s Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, has once again introduced a budget-friendly option for OTT enthusiasts. The JioHotstar subscription is remarkably affordable. When broken down, the cost amounts to approximately Rs 1.36 per day.

Cricket fans should note that unlike last year, IPL matches will not be available for free streaming. To watch the IPL, users must subscribe to a JioHotstar plan.

Affordable Subscription Plans

JioHotstar offers multiple subscription options tailored to different user needs:

  • Mobile Plan (Rs 499/year): This is the most affordable plan, costing roughly Rs 1.36 per day. It allows streaming on a single mobile device with a maximum resolution of 720p.
  • Super Plan (Rs 899/year): This plan supports streaming on two devices simultaneously and offers higher picture quality compared to the mobile plan.
  • Premium Plan (Rs 1,499/year): This top-tier plan allows streaming on up to four devices simultaneously, offering the best video and audio quality.

Additionally, the Rs 499 mobile plan can be availed on a quarterly basis, costing Rs 149 every three months.

How to Get JioHotstar

Users eager to experience JioHotstar can simply update their existing Disney+ Hotstar app to access the rebranded platform. Those planning to watch the IPL and other premium content should select an appropriate subscription plan as per their requirements.

With its expansive content offering and pocket-friendly pricing, JioHotstar is set to become a go-to entertainment hub for Indian audiences.
