Sambhal Police Prepare for Major Survey Following Recent Violence

In the aftermath of the recent violence in Sambhal, the local police are gearing up for a comprehensive survey of the city. This initiative will focus on identifying how many residents are from outside the city and how many have connections abroad. Authorities will also investigate which countries these individuals are from, their occupations, and their visa and passport statuses. It is anticipated that this survey will commence shortly.

Background of the Recent Violence

On November 24, 2024, Sambhal witnessed violent protests in response to the survey of the Jama Masjid. The clash resulted in four deaths and left over 30 police officers injured. As a result, 74 individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. Notably, the violence has led to the discovery of links between some local youth and Pakistan, with reports of communication between youth and Pakistani religious figures. One such individual, Akil, has already been taken into custody.

Criminal Shariq Satha’s Alleged Link to Dubai

In a related development, notorious criminal Shariq Satha, known for his associations with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, is reportedly hiding in Dubai. This connection, coupled with the recent unrest, has prompted the Sambhal police to take further action. They are now preparing to carry out a survey to gather more information about the residents of the city.

Survey Plans and Police Station-wise Verification

The police have devised a strategy for a thorough survey, which will be conducted in the city’s 33 wards. Verification will be carried out by police station, covering areas under the jurisdiction of Nakhasa, Hayatnagar, and the city police station. Each ward, with a population of approximately three lakh people, will be surveyed, and details of all individuals will be documented in police records.

Registration of Personal Information and Future Actions

In addition to the survey, authorities have decided that personal details, including horoscopes, will be recorded in the police’s official records. This information will be gathered for everyone in the city. Specifically, residents from areas like Mohalla Court Purvi and Mohalla Court Garvi, which were involved in the violence, will have their details registered at the new Satyavrat police post being set up near the Jama Masjid. The police aim to gather comprehensive data on residents, including their names, addresses, and other pertinent details.

Insights from Sambhal’s Additional Superintendent of Police

Additional Superintendent of Police, Shrishchandra, confirmed that the survey will focus on identifying individuals who have ties to other cities and foreign countries. The survey is expected to provide a clearer picture of the local situation, particularly regarding the connections between local youth and Maulanas from countries like Pakistan. The police are working to uncover more information about the networks these individuals may be a part of.
