A chilling murder case has surfaced from Shillong, where Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuwanshi was brutally killed during his honeymoon trip. Shockingly, his wife, Sonam Raghuwanshi, has been arrested as the prime suspect in the murder. She was taken into custody from a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. During police interrogation, Sonam reportedly confessed to her role in the crime and revealed critical details.
A CCTV video has also emerged, showing Sonam undergoing a medical checkup at a medical college, which was captured during the investigation.

According to police officials, Sonam conspired with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, to eliminate her husband. The plan was meticulously executed with the help of three hired contract killers.

- The Plot: Sonam and Raj Kushwaha jointly planned the murder of Raja Raghuwanshi. While Raj did not travel to Shillong, he maintained constant contact with Sonam via phone throughout the trip.
- Hired Killers: Raj arranged for three contract killers—Akash, Vishal, and Anand—to travel to Shillong and carry out the murder.
- Execution: As part of the plan, Sonam lured her husband to a deserted road, where the three men ambushed and killed him using sharp weapons.
- After the Crime: Following the murder, all four—Akash, Vishal, Anand, and Sonam—traveled from Shillong to Guwahati, where they spent a night before splitting up and heading in different directions. Their next intended destination was Cherrapunji.
How the Police Cracked the Case
The body of Raja Raghuwanshi was discovered on the 2nd of the month, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). As the investigation progressed, police began suspecting Sonam’s involvement when it became evident she was still alive and possibly connected to the crime.
Phone records showed that Sonam had been in regular contact with Raj Kushwaha both before and during the trip. It was also revealed that the two were in a romantic relationship.
Relying on technical evidence and surveillance footage, police tracked down the suspects:
- Akash Rajput was arrested from Lalitpur.
- Vishal and Raj Kushwaha were apprehended in Indore.
- Sonam was located and detained in Ghazipur.
- Anand, the fifth suspect, was arrested in Sagar.
