Among them, actress Sukanya once found herself at the center of a major controversy.
Sukanya’s Name Linked to Leaked Video and Sex Racket
Sukanya, a well-known name in the South Indian film industry, became the subject of intense media attention when an alleged explicit video claimed to feature her went viral across WhatsApp, YouTube, and other social media platforms. Alongside the video, a few objectionable photos also circulated online. However, some sources suggested these images may have been digitally altered.
Adding to the controversy, Sukanya’s name also surfaced in connection with a sex racket. In a shocking incident, Hyderabad police reportedly arrested her from a five-star hotel during a sting operation that led to the detention of seven others. Authorities claimed to have received intelligence about a high-profile prostitution network operating discreetly in luxury hotels. According to reports, the actress was allegedly involved.
Past Allegations Linking Sukanya to Notorious Bandit Veerappan
Sukanya’s name was further dragged into controversy when infamous forest brigand Veerappan allegedly made inappropriate remarks about her during a televised interview aired on April 7, 1996. Following the broadcast, Sukanya filed a defamation case against the news channel, the editor of Tamil magazine Nakkheeran R. Gopal, and Veerappan himself. The matter reached the Madras High Court, which eventually acquitted R. Gopal of any wrongdoing.
Her Career in South Indian Cinema
Despite the setbacks, Sukanya’s acting career has been significant. Between 1991 and 1997, she appeared in numerous Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, earning popularity for her performances. After taking a break post-marriage, she returned to the silver screen in 2003, often taking on supporting roles.
Most recently, she played the role of superstar Mahesh Babu’s mother in a 2023 release. One of her most memorable performances remains in the 1990s classic Peddarikam, where she starred opposite Jagapati Babu.
