Actress Sumona Chakraborty is widely recognized for her work on Kapil Sharma’s popular comedy show, where she portrayed the role of Kapil’s onscreen wife. However, Sumona is currently not a part of the show. In a recent interview, she opened up about her perspective on comedy, revealing that she views it as a form of acting since everything is scripted.
Sumona Chakraborty Finds Comedy Challenging
During a conversation on a YouTube channel, Sumona admitted that she is not particularly fond of comedy. She shared that performing comedic roles has always been time-consuming and challenging for her. Sumona explained that she has her own personal sense of humor, which might not necessarily align with the comedic style of Kapil Sharma’s show. For her, working on the show was purely an acting assignment, requiring rigorous preparation.
Sumona elaborated, “Whenever we received the script, I was one of those actors who would immediately sit down with a pen and paper. I highlighted my lines, read through them multiple times, and made sure to memorize everything because delivering punch lines with the correct timing was crucial. I would also memorize Kapil’s dialogues to ensure that I could respond at the right moment. Timing was everything, and any delay could disrupt the flow of the performance.”
She further mentioned, “Sometimes, if an actor altered their lines spontaneously during the shoot, I would find it difficult to adjust. I preferred sticking to the original script because any deviation could throw me off. Although I greatly respect Kapil’s talent, comedy is simply not my forte. This is one of the reasons I eventually stepped away from the show.”
Sumona Chakraborty’s Future Plans
Speaking about her professional aspirations, Sumona expressed her desire to explore diverse roles in the OTT space. She is keen on experimenting with different types of characters and is also interested in pursuing opportunities in films. While she has been away from television screens for a while, fans last saw her participating in the reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi,’ where she showcased her adventurous side by performing daring stunts.
