The tragic terrorist strike in Pahalgam, Kashmir, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of the nation. From ordinary citizens to prominent film personalities, there’s a wave of collective outrage and grief. The repercussions of the attack have extended beyond public sentiment and into the entertainment industry, particularly impacting projects involving Pakistani artists. Once again, there is a growing perception that the cultural ties between the Indian film industry and Pakistani talent, including popular actor Fawad Khan, have been severely strained.
Reports suggest that the release of Fawad Khan’s upcoming project Abir Gulaal in India may be halted. Simultaneously, protests have also erupted against Fauji, a film featuring South superstar Prabhas. Amidst this tense atmosphere, another major announcement has been made by the makers of Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath, starring Bollywood veteran Sunil Shetty.
‘Kesari Veer’ to Skip Release in Pakistan
In a strong response to the recent terror attack, producer Kanu Chauhan of Chauhan Studio has declared that Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath will not see a release in Pakistan. The historical drama, which features Sooraj Pancholi, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma, pays tribute to the valor of warriors who defended the Somnath temple from 14th-century invaders.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Chauhan expressed his firm stance: “After witnessing the horrific attack on Indian soil by Pakistan-based terrorists, I’ve made it clear to my international distributors that my film will not be released in Pakistan under any circumstances.”
A Moral Stand Against Terror
Kanu Chauhan emphasized that his decision is not just business-driven, but a matter of principle. “I have zero tolerance for such acts of cowardice. These attacks have no place in our country or in humanity. I stand with the innocent lives lost in this tragedy,” he stated. Releasing the film in Pakistan, he added, would go against his conscience and the values the film upholds.
A Film Meant to Inspire Patriotism
According to the makers, Kesari Veer is designed to stir feelings of nationalism and pride. Positioned as a grand patriotic saga, the film aims to honor the courage and legacy of India’s ancient defenders. Its global release will cover India, the USA, the UK, Gulf countries, and other international markets—excluding Pakistan.
Trailer Launch and Expectations
The official trailer for Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath is set to launch in Mumbai on April 29, marking the beginning of its promotional campaign. With a strong emotional and patriotic undertone, the film has already begun generating buzz, and audiences across the country are eagerly awaiting its release.
