Swara Bhasker Faces Backlash for Supporting Gaza Rally in Mumbai

Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, who has stayed away from films since her marriage, continues to remain in the spotlight due to her active presence on social media. While she’s currently focused on her personal life, Swara is known for speaking her mind openly on various socio-political issues online — often attracting both support and criticism.

Recently, she found herself at the center of yet another controversy after sharing a post promoting a rally in Mumbai in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine. The rally is scheduled to take place at Azad Maidan on June 18.

Post Sparks Controversy

Swara used her X (formerly Twitter) account to share posters about the rally, which criticized the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza and urged the Indian government to reconsider its stance on the conflict. Her caption read: “Mumbai… Come out for Palestine on June 18.”

While her post was aimed at drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis, it quickly became a lightning rod for online outrage.

Social Media Users Slam Swara

Soon after her post, several users began criticizing the actress, accusing her of selective outrage. Many questioned her silence on recent terrorist incidents in India, such as the attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

One user commented, “If you’re so concerned, why not go to Palestine and help them directly instead of organizing PR rallies in Mumbai?” Another wrote, “Where was this energy when the Pahalgam attack happened?” A third sarcastically asked, “When will you start demanding justice for Iran?”

Accusations of Hypocrisy

Some critics accused Swara of ignoring domestic tragedies while vocalizing support for international issues that align with her personal beliefs.

One comment read, “Not a single word for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. No solidarity for your own countrymen. But you’re campaigning for a distant conflict just because it fits your ideological narrative.”

No Response Yet from Swara

Despite the mounting criticism, Swara Bhasker has yet to respond publicly. While her supporters view her as a fearless voice for justice, her detractors accuse her of being biased and opportunistic in her activism.

As the online debate intensifies, it remains to be seen whether the actress will address the backlash or continue to stand by her post without further comment.
