Teen Captures Plane Matter on Video in Ahmedabad, Left Deeply Traumatized

For 17-year-old Aryan, who was visiting Ahmedabad from North Gujarat for the first time, a moment of curiosity turned into a terrifying experience. As a plane flew closely over his building, he began recording a video on his mobile phone — unaware that within seconds, the aircraft would crash.

The shocking event left Aryan deeply shaken. The video he recorded was first seen by his sister, and after it began circulating on social media, Aryan gave his statement to the police on Saturday. That afternoon, officers from the Gaekwad Haveli Police Station arrived at Meghani Nagar and took Aryan with them for questioning.

Filmed on His Mobile Phone

Aryan explained that he had been recording the plane near his rented home simply out of interest. “I had no idea that the aircraft would turn into a ball of fire so soon,” he said. “Just 24 seconds after I began recording, the crash happened. What I saw terrified me. My sister was the first to watch the video.”

Aryan lives in Idar, Sabarkantha, with his mother and sister. He had come to Ahmedabad to buy books. His father, a former Indian Army serviceman, now drives a vehicle for a living and resides in a rented house in the city. Their landlady, Kailashben, said the family was alarmed when police came to the house. “They asked Aryan how he had taken the video,” she said.

Later, the Ahmedabad police clarified in a public statement that Aryan had not been arrested — he was only taken in for questioning. His father accompanied him during the process. Meanwhile, Aryan’s sister mentioned that he is still mentally disturbed by the incident and does not want to stay in the city any longer.

Tight Security at the Crash Site

With both national and international investigation agencies expected to arrive for the inquiry into the Air India plane crash, local police have secured the crash site with tight restrictions. The area has been completely cordoned off, and the media as well as the public are now prohibited from entering.

Previously, civilians and journalists were seen capturing photos and videos at the scene, but authorities have now banned all such activity. Multiple agencies from India and abroad are currently involved in probing the cause of the crash.
