Temple Dedicated to Lalu Prasad Yadav to Be Built in Bihar

A temple honoring Lalu Prasad Yadav, the national president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is set to be constructed in Bihar. On Wednesday, to mark Lalu’s 78th birthday, one of his devoted followers laid the foundation stone for the temple. The structure will be built in Hisua, located in Bihar’s Nawada district, where Lalu will be worshipped in the form of a deity. A 6-foot-tall statue of the former Bihar Chief Minister will be installed as the centerpiece.

The man behind this unique initiative is Naresh Yadav, a retired army serviceman. In a ceremonial event attended by hundreds, Naresh, along with his wife, conducted a traditional ritual at his native village, Sartakia, to begin the temple’s construction.

Naresh Yadav expressed his lifelong admiration for Lalu Prasad Yadav, explaining that his inspiration for building the temple stemmed from his deep respect and personal connection with the leader.

He stated, “I have met Lalu Ji many times over the years. With each meeting, my admiration for him grew stronger. Recently, I felt compelled to honor him in a special way, and the idea of building a temple in his name came to mind. I wanted his 78th birthday to be unforgettable, so we laid the foundation stone for his temple today.”

According to Naresh, the temple is expected to cost around ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000). Lalu Yadav’s 6-foot statue will be placed in the sanctum sanctorum, alongside idols of Radha-Krishna and other Hindu deities.

Naresh Yadav retired from the Indian Army in 2003, where he served as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Rajputana Regiment. His gesture reflects not only his personal devotion but also the strong emotional connection many people in Bihar continue to feel for Lalu Prasad Yadav.
