A heartbreaking reality is unfolding at the India-Pakistan border, where several Indian women who had once crossed into Pakistan after marrying Pakistani men are now left in limbo. These women, who entered into cross-border marriages with hopes of a new life, are now stranded as their Pakistani husbands are refusing to take them back.
These women had traveled to Pakistan on valid visas and lived there as wives and daughters-in-law. However, due to changes in policies, expired visas, or deteriorating personal relationships, many of them were forced to return to India—only to discover that their husbands or in-laws no longer wanted them.
Some of these women are now staying in border towns of Rajasthan and Punjab, living in uncertainty. Despite repeated appeals, their Pakistani spouses have refused to respond or take any legal responsibility. Many of these women say they were misled or abandoned and now feel betrayed not just by individuals, but by the system as a whole.

Their stories are not just tales of broken relationships but also raise questions about the lack of legal and diplomatic support in such cases. Stranded between two countries, these women continue to hope for justice and recognition, even as time keeps moving on.
