Urfi Javed Sparks Debate with Bold Fashion and Personal Views on Religion and Marriage

Mumbai, May 31 — Social media sensation and former Bigg Boss OTT contestant Urfi Javed has once again made headlines—not just for her daring fashion choices, but for her candid remarks on religion, personal freedom, and marriage in a recent interview.

Known for pushing boundaries with her unique and often bold outfits, Urfi frequently finds herself in the crosshairs of online trolling. However, it’s her latest statements about her religious beliefs and views on marriage that have set off a fresh wave of conversation.

“I Don’t Believe in Islam”: Urfi Opens Up

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Urfi revealed that she does not believe in Islam and has no intention of marrying a Muslim man. She explained that while she comes from a conservative Muslim background, her personal experiences have shaped her belief system differently.

“I come from a very conservative Muslim family, but I won’t marry a Muslim man. I don’t follow any religion and I don’t believe in Islam,” she stated.

Urfi further shared that she is currently reading the Bhagavad Gita, expressing a desire to learn more about Hindu philosophy.

“I’m interested in the logical aspects of the Gita. I want to adopt the good things from it,” she said.

“Religion Should Come from the Heart”

Speaking about her upbringing, Urfi recounted her early life, revealing that her father left the family when she was just 17.

“My father was extremely orthodox. After he left, my mother—though religious herself—never forced religion on us. That’s how it should be,” Urfi remarked.

She emphasized that religion should be a personal choice, not an obligation.

“You shouldn’t impose religion on your wife or children. It should come from the heart. Otherwise, neither you nor God will be happy,” she added.

Defiant on Fashion Criticism

Urfi, who often receives backlash over her unconventional outfits, particularly from conservative audiences, addressed the criticism head-on.

“I’m a Muslim woman, and the most hateful comments I get are from Muslims. They say I’m tarnishing the image of Islam. They hate me because I don’t behave the way they expect Muslim women to,” she said.

She accused such critics of trying to control women in their communities and insisted that her defiance stems from a rejection of that mindset.

“Muslim men want every woman in their community to behave a certain way, and they troll me because I don’t conform,” she added.

Love Knows No Religion, Says Urfi

When asked if she would marry someone outside her community, Urfi replied that love should be the only deciding factor.

“I’ll never marry a Muslim man. I don’t follow any religion, so I don’t care who I fall in love with. We should marry the one we love,” she said firmly.

Bold Voice in a Conservative World

Urfi Javed continues to remain a polarizing figure in the Indian entertainment world—admired by some for her bold self-expression and questioned by others for her defiance of traditional norms. With her unapologetic attitude and thought-provoking views, she has sparked meaningful conversations about faith, freedom, and identity in today’s society.
