Hisar, Haryana — In a significant development, YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested on charges of espionage for Pakistan, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a Hisar court on Monday. This decision came after the completion of her police remand, following which she was presented before the court and sent to jail under judicial custody.
Police Custody Ends, Judicial Proceedings Begin
Malhotra had been in police custody for nine days, during which investigative agencies carried out detailed interrogations. This was the third time she had been placed under remand, as authorities attempted to uncover links and gather evidence related to the alleged espionage network. Officials from multiple intelligence agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Military Intelligence, were involved in the questioning process.
One of 12 Arrested in Spy Ring Bust
Jyoti Malhotra was arrested on May 16 under sections of the Official Secrets Act and the Indian Penal Code. She is one of 12 individuals detained across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in connection with an alleged cross-border spy ring. Investigators believe she had established contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an official at the Pakistani High Commission in India, who was expelled from the country on May 13 after being accused of engaging in espionage activities.
International Travel and Shocking Revelations
During the investigation, Malhotra reportedly revealed that she had traveled to Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and several other countries in recent years. Police sources suggest that Pakistani intelligence operatives may have been grooming her as a potential “asset” for their network. She is believed to have maintained regular contact with Danish, particularly around the time of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent four-day military standoff between India and Pakistan.
Digital Evidence and Financial Probes Underway
Authorities have recovered deleted chat data from Malhotra’s electronic devices, which include three mobile phones and a laptop previously sent for forensic analysis. Her bank accounts are also under scrutiny, as investigators try to trace any suspicious financial transactions or foreign links.
No Evidence of Classified Data Leak So Far
In an official statement, the Hisar Superintendent of Police confirmed that no concrete evidence has emerged so far indicating that Jyoti Malhotra accessed or leaked any classified military or strategic information. Additionally, there is no indication of her direct involvement in terrorist activities or links with terrorist organizations, according to current findings.
