If you are a ration card holder, there is a significant update that you need to be aware of. The government has issued an important notice regarding the completion of the e-KYC process. Failure to comply with this directive before March 31, 2025, could lead to the removal of your name from the ration card list, thereby preventing you from receiving your monthly ration benefits. Read on to understand the complete details.
Ration Card New Update: Deadline for e-KYC Completion
Recent reports indicate that approximately 27,000 ration cardholders in Garu Block have yet to complete their e-KYC process. The government has made it clear that all individuals who do not complete this requirement by the deadline will have their names removed from the list. This means they will no longer be eligible to receive subsidized food supplies. It is crucial to take immediate action to avoid any inconvenience.
Who Needs to Complete the e-KYC Process?
Ration cardholders who have not been personally collecting their rations through biometric verification at public distribution system (PDS) shops need to complete their e-KYC. In many cases, other family members have been collecting the ration on their behalf. To ensure transparency and accuracy in distribution, such individuals must verify their identity through the e-KYC process. This will involve biometric verification of all family members listed on the ration card.
How to Complete the e-KYC Process?
The government has provided two convenient methods for completing the e-KYC process:
Method 1: Visit the Public Distribution System (PDS) Shop
- Ration cardholders who have not used their biometrics for ration collection must visit their designated PDS shop.
- All family members listed on the ration card must bring their Aadhaar cards.
- Biometric verification will be conducted at the shop using the Aadhaar-linked fingerprint authentication system.
- Once the process is completed, the ration cardholder will continue receiving their monthly ration without any issues.
Method 2: Complete e-KYC from Home Using the Mera e-KYC App
- Download the Mera e-KYC App on your mobile phone.
- Enter your Aadhaar number in the app.
- You will receive an OTP on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
- Enter the OTP and proceed with the face recognition step.
- Click a selfie using your mobile camera and submit the verification.
- Repeat this process for all family members listed on the ration card.
By following either of these methods, you can successfully complete your e-KYC and secure your eligibility for continued ration benefits.
Government Officials’ Statement on e-KYC Progress
Chandan Kumar, the supply officer of Guruvai Block, stated that out of the 1,06,000 ration card beneficiaries in the region, 27,000 still need to complete their e-KYC. Similarly, in Konch Block, where 1,42,000 beneficiaries are registered, 40,000 have yet to complete the process. The government is urging all eligible individuals to act promptly and complete their e-KYC before the March 31 deadline to avoid any disruptions in ration distribution.
Final Reminder: Don’t Miss the Deadline!
To ensure that you and your family continue to receive ration benefits without interruption, complete your e-KYC before March 31, 2025. Choose the most convenient method for verification—either by visiting a PDS shop or using the Mera e-KYC app from home. Taking action now will prevent unnecessary hassles and ensure food security for your household.
