The Income Tax Department has been continuously taking big action to curb black money. Recently, such an Income Tax raid took place in the country, which is being considered the biggest raid till date. Not only was a huge amount of cash recovered in this, but the department had to resort to new techniques and resources for investigation.

The Income Tax Department constantly monitors how much money came to a person or institution from where, what is its source and whether tax has been paid on it or not. If any discrepancy is seen or input is found, then the income tax return is reassessed or a direct raid is conducted.
The country’s biggest raid took place in Odisha – Rs 352 crore recovered
In this raid conducted in the state of Odisha, income tax officials seized Rs 352 crore in cash. This is considered to be the biggest cash seizure case till date. This action was taken against the liquor manufacturing company named Boudh Distilleries Private Limited, in which several of their locations were raided simultaneously.
The raid continued for 10 consecutive days
- The cash was loaded in 10 trucks and taken to the department’s office
- Scanning wheel machines were also used in the raid so that the money hidden under the ground could also be detected
36 machines had to be ordered to count the notes
The count of the notes recovered was so high that 36 new currency counting machines had to be ordered for this. Apart from this, employees from different banks were engaged in counting work. The entire process was carried out under special security cover.
A strong blow against black money
The officers who successfully carried out this historic action were also honored by the government. These include the names of senior officers like Principal Director S.K. Jha and Additional Director Gurpreet Singh. This raid is being seen as a big victory against black money and corruption.
165 years completed – Income Tax Department’s historic achievement
This year, the Income Tax Department in India completed 165 years, and programs were organized across the country to mark this occasion. This raid was the result of years of hard work, monitoring and transparency policy of the department.
