Mandatory High Security Registration Plate for All Vehicles

Whether you own a car or a bike, installing a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is now mandatory. Just like wearing a seatbelt in a car or a helmet while riding a two-wheeler, having an HSRP is essential to comply with traffic regulations. Failure to install this number plate can result in penalties, similar to fines imposed for violating other traffic rules. To help vehicle owners comply with this requirement, we will guide you through both online and offline methods to apply for an HSRP.

What is an HSRP?

A High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is a tamper-proof aluminum number plate with enhanced security features. It includes a chromium-based hologram on the top left corner, containing critical details about the vehicle. Additionally, each plate is embedded with a unique laser-engraved code that ensures authenticity and prevents counterfeiting. HSRPs are mandatory not only for newly registered vehicles but also for older ones.

Penalty for Not Having an HSRP

The installation of HSRPs has been mandated across India. In Maharashtra, vehicle owners must ensure their plates are installed before March 31, 2025, if their vehicle was registered before April 1, 2019. The penalty for non-compliance varies by state, ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000, depending on local traffic laws.

By installing an HSRP, vehicle owners not only comply with legal requirements but also enhance the security of their vehicles against theft and tampering. Make sure to get yours before the deadline to avoid unnecessary penalties.
