Ban on Muslims at Vrindavan Fair Called Unconstitutional
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has strongly condemned the ban imposed on Muslims attending the Holi fair in Vrindavan, Mathura, as well as restrictions on their participation in setting up shops. He stated that such actions are unconstitutional and undermine the spirit of Hindu-Muslim unity in India.
Expressing concern, Maulana Razvi pointed out that a similar restriction had previously been imposed by the Akhada Parishad at the Maha Kumbh. He believes that such decisions weaken the country both economically and socially, as they foster division and discrimination.
Allegations of Targeting the Muslim Community
Maulana Razvi further stated that communal elements are deliberately trying to create hostility against Muslims by enforcing such bans. He sees this as an attempt to economically weaken the Muslim community. However, he emphasized that such efforts would not succeed. He urged Hindus and Muslims to unite against those who spread hatred and attempt to divide the country.
According to him, India thrives on its diverse culture and mixed heritage, and it is globally recognized for being a nation where people of different religions live together harmoniously.
Concerns Over Religious Conversions at Maha Kumbh
Maulana Razvi is known for frequently voicing his opinions on issues concerning the Muslim community. While he has praised the arrangements at the Maha Kumbh, he has also raised concerns regarding the reported mass conversion of Muslims at the event.
Previously, he had written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging him to intervene and prevent such conversions. In the letter, he expressed his concerns, stating that reports suggested hundreds of Muslims were set to be converted at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. He reminded the UP government that it had passed a law against forced religious conversions, and any such acts at the Kumbh Mela should fall under the purview of that law.
Maulana Razvi warned that if conversions were allowed to proceed, it could lead to social tensions across the state and the country. Therefore, he called for an immediate ban on such conversion programs to maintain harmony and peace.
