Ration Card Surrender Notice: Important Guidelines for Ineligible Beneficiaries

The Supply Officer of Deori in Giridih district, Kamala Singh, informed the media on Saturday about new directives issued by the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Magistrate of Giridih. These guidelines focus on identifying ineligible ration cardholders. Individuals falling under the ineligible category are advised to voluntarily surrender their ration cards to avoid strict action and financial penalties.

Appeal for Public Cooperation

The supply officer urged residents to extend their support to the government by spreading awareness regarding this directive. Public Distribution System (PDS) dealers, social workers, and residents of the block area have been requested to inform people about the importance of surrendering their ration cards if they are not eligible.

Penalty for Holding an Ineligible Ration Card

Individuals found guilty of using ration cards despite being ineligible will face criminal proceedings. Recovery will be made at the market rate with an additional 12 percent annual interest on the ration lifted. This recovery action will be taken strictly as per the guidelines issued by the authorities.

Who Are Considered Ineligible for a Ration Card?

The following categories of individuals are considered ineligible to hold a ration card under the new criteria:

  • Employees working in central or state government offices.
  • Individuals liable to pay income tax, service tax, or commercial tax.
  • Owners of more than five acres of irrigated agricultural land.
  • Individuals possessing four-wheeler motor vehicles.
  • People owning houses with three or more permanent (pukka) rooms.
