Authorities in the United States are intensifying their crackdown on illegal immigrants, conducting searches and deporting individuals back to their home countries. Recently, the U.S. deported 104 illegal immigrants to India, leading to widespread protests. However, America is not alone in this initiative—Britain has also been actively deporting a significant number of undocumented individuals.
Britain’s Crackdown on Illegal Immigration
In January alone, British authorities arrested 600 illegal immigrants following extensive raids at approximately 800 locations. Just like the United States, the UK is also taking strict measures to address illegal immigration, particularly targeting areas with high concentrations of foreign nationals, including a large number of Indian citizens.
Illegal Immigrants Mostly Employed in Small Businesses
According to data released by the UK Home Department, 3,930 arrests related to illegal immigration have been recorded since July. The majority of these individuals were found working in small businesses such as cafes, car washes, nail bars, and vape shops.
Labour Party representatives have revealed that over 16,400 illegal immigrants have been apprehended since the last election, with expectations that this number will continue to rise as crackdowns intensify. The Home Department further disclosed that over 800 detainees were deported via chartered planes.
Stricter Immigration Laws in the Pipeline
UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has emphasized the need for stringent enforcement of immigration laws. She highlighted that, for years, employers have exploited illegal workers, with little to no enforcement action taken against them. However, the government is now determined to address this issue.
Cooper stated that significant changes are being implemented to dismantle illegal immigration networks and the groups that facilitate unlawful entry. In addition to reinforcing border security, authorities are also scrutinizing immigration documents more rigorously. She noted that several individuals were found carrying seemingly valid documents that, upon investigation, turned out to be fraudulent.
The government remains committed to ensuring that immigration policies are strictly followed, taking firm steps to combat illegal migration and its associated challenges.
