In a bold midnight operation, the Indian Army has avenged the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam by targeting and destroying nine terror bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes primarily targeted key installations of terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to military sources, around 70 terrorists were neutralized in the operation.
Surgical Strikes Leave Terror Infrastructure in Ruins
The targeted action by Indian forces decimated several command centers and operational bases of the terror groups. Among the most significant targets was the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur, which also functioned as a training center disguised as a madrasa. Reports confirm that this location was completely destroyed in the operation.
Pakistan Admits Casualties, Spins Civilian Casualty Narrative
While Pakistan has acknowledged that casualties occurred due to the strike, it has attempted to portray the deceased as civilians in a propaganda effort to garner international sympathy. The Pakistani military, reacting sharply, issued a warning stating that they would respond to India “at a time and place of their choosing,” although such statements have been dismissed by analysts as empty rhetoric.
Heavy Loss for Masood Azhar’s Network
One of the most devastating outcomes for the terror ecosystem was the loss suffered by Jaish-e-Mohammed’s chief Masood Azhar. According to BBC Urdu, 14 individuals, including 10 of Azhar’s own family members, were killed in the strike. Azhar himself reportedly confirmed this, expressing deep sorrow and even lamenting that he did not die with them.
The Indian attack hit a nerve not only operationally but personally for Azhar, further intensifying the impact of the action. BBC Urdu also reported that the madrasa complex—Madrasa Al-Sabir—and the Jamia Masjid Al-Subhan, both part of the Jaish headquarters in Bahawalpur, were destroyed in the offensive.
Pakistan Accuses India of Harming Religious Sites
Pakistan has claimed that the Indian strikes damaged several mosques, including the Subhan Allah Mosque in Bahawalpur. However, Indian military sources assert that the strikes were carried out with precision and were aimed solely at terrorist infrastructure. Civilian areas and religious sites were deliberately avoided in order to prevent collateral damage.
A Message of Strength and Precision
India’s response has sent a clear message: any attack on Indian soil will be met with swift and targeted retaliation. The operation not only dismantled vital terror infrastructure but also delivered a psychological blow to terror leaders who have long enjoyed impunity in Pakistan.
