
A disturbing case of triple talaq has surfaced in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where a man reportedly divorced his wife after informing her of his second marriage to his maternal cousin. The incident took place in the Bhujpura locality of the Kotwali Nagar area and has sparked outrage. The wife has filed a formal police complaint, following which a case has been registered against the accused and four others.
Dowry Demands and Second Marriage Spark Legal Action
According to the woman’s statement to the police, she was married to Saddam, a resident of Ishanpur under Mahuakheda police station limits, on October 21, 2022. From the beginning, tensions brewed over dowry, as her in-laws were allegedly dissatisfied with what was provided during the wedding. They reportedly pressured her daily for an additional ₹2 lakh and a motorcycle.
On April 21, 2023, the woman claims she was assaulted and forcibly thrown out of the house due to the unmet dowry demands. The situation escalated into a legal dispute, and the matter has been ongoing in court since then.
Husband Marries Again and Issues Instant Divorce
Things took a shocking turn on April 2, 2025, when Saddam allegedly returned to the woman’s residence and revealed that he had married his cousin’s sister. Immediately afterward, he pronounced Talaq three times, thereby divorcing her on the spot. When the woman objected, he reportedly threatened her and fled the scene.
Police Action Underway
Acting on the woman’s complaint, authorities have filed an FIR against Saddam and four others involved. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway and that teams are actively working to trace the accused. They assured that strict legal action will follow once the culprits are apprehended.
